Social Support Group at Accent Home Care

At Accent Home Care, we run a Social Support Group in Bayswater and the Yarra Ranges. Our group offers a friendly and relaxed space where you can enjoy outings with others—trips you might not usually get the chance to do on your own. We plan activities based on your interests, helping you stay independent while making new connections and enjoying social time together.

About the Social Support Group

Accent Home Care has been providing a Social Support Group for more than 15 years for people from English and non-English speaking backgrounds, living within the wider Knox and Yarra Ranges Communities. And because the Social Support Group is so diverse in language and culture, outings are rich with variety and fun!

Our Social Support Groups offer a friendly and supportive space where you can join outings and activities that may be difficult to attend on your own. The program is designed to match your interests, help you stay social, and encourage independence.

How can I join Accent Home Care’s Social Support Group?

Step 1

Contact Accent Home Care to organise joining our Social Support Group on (03) 8824 1000.  Have a chat to our friendly team member to see if the group is a good fit for you, and to ask any question you may have. 

Step 2

Arrange a My Aged Care assessment, call My Aged Care on 1800 200 422 or visit myagedcare.gov.au.

Ask for a Comonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) assessment to join an Accent Home Care Social Support Group.

Step 3

Make sure you ask to be referred to Accent Home Care.

The Social Support Group provides stimulating, recreational activities in a supportive environment.

Excursions

Our social support groups for the elderly activities are worked around our clients’ dynamics, interests, and preferred choices. We visit places in and around Knox and other surrounding areas such as the Yarra Ranges, Bayside, and the City.

Accent Home Care’s Social Support Program aims to meet a wide variety of needs and interests in a manner that promotes participation and enjoyment, whilst encouraging independence. All groups are run by experienced and qualified staff.

Accent Home Care has a community bus that enables us to arrange door-to-door service for our clients.

Our Social Support Group runs Monday to Friday between 9am and 3pm.
